According to an order from the UK Border Control, Emirates airline’s ‘shower attendants’ will no longer be allowed to fly into the UK.
Due to in-flight showering being a relatively new phenomenon, with only Emirates and Etihad offering the service, the shower attendants are not considered cabin crew, and do not receive the same training. They also do not have the same flying licences and special visas as cabin crew.
In a statement sent to Arabian Business, an Emirates spokesperson said the airline “abides by the rules and regulations of the respective issuing country for our operating crew”.
“We are reviewing our resources and making adjustments on board to ensure our customers continue to receive the signature Emirates service,” the spokesperson added.
Due to the UK Border Control’s “restriction with entry of non-licensed crew”, Emirates will now have to cease the use of shower attendants in first class for all UK-bound flights.
