Hold on to your seats.
Netflix has debuted the first full trailer for Ghost in the Shell: SAC_2045, the latest anime series based on the legendary manga franchise by Shirow Masamune.
Netflix first posed a Japanese language trailer on to its Netflix Japan Twitter account and then to the Netflix Japan YouTube channel. And then finally and thankfully with English subtitles on the Netflix Asia YouTube channel as seen above.
The trailer gives us a first full look at the series’ computer-generated art style, which while awesome, is a step away from the drawn animation style of yore—which has proven controversial with many loyal fans.
Did we need this radical makeover or do we need more of the same? That is a choice that is likely to be hotly debated going forward.
Let’s hope the series is welcomed more warmly than the Scarlett Johansson-starring and whitewashing-accused 2017 film Ghost in the Shell.
Ghost in the Shell: SAC_2045 comes to your screens this April.
