There are few things more joyous than snow and even fewer more joyous than elephants. So, when you combine the two, you’re guaranteed to experience mass joy-overload.
That’s the combination that a pair of elephants graced us with after escaping from a Russian circus. The two created quite the commotion during a walk with their trainers where they broke free and headed into the snow for a roll-around and a quick play.
The Yekaterinburg Circus said in an Instagram post that Asian elephants Carla, 45, and Roni, 50, had gotten away from the handlers just before they were due to drive to St. Petersburg. “The elephants have their own character and emotions, they are very smart,” the Instagram post said. “They walked outside and got very happy from seeing the snow, the trees and the pedestrians whom they took for spectators. Roni stayed by one of the trees while Carla walked towards a pile of snow.”
The pair were eventually led back to the circus.
Last year, 27 countries officially banned the use of animals in circuses, Russia, however, was not one of them.
