Netflix orders unscripted Indian matchmaking series

If you’re craving for some real-life TV shows that are centred around finding love, you are in for a big surprise.

Netflix seems to have cracked the code of successful TV shows, following the positive response to Love is Blind and Too Hot To Handle, as the streaming service has just greenlit two new dating shows.

While both these new editions will be unscripted, they tackle different spaces. The first titled, Indian Matchmaking, will premiere on July 16, where couples will meet with the help of a matchmaker. On the other hand, the second show, Love on the Spectrum, will show what the dating world looks like for young adults on the autism spectrum. This will be a rare occurrence since adults with special needs are rarely represented on TV.

If all this wasn’t enough, Netflix newly announced a new wedding show, Say I Do, that will also release on July 1.

“When I started the unscripted department, we knew that one category that we wanted to try to get into was relationship and dating and love, and those are hard shows to find,” Brandon Riegg, Netflix’s vice president of nonfiction series and comedy specials said. “It’s a category of programming that we know people really love, and it’s our job to find the best shows,” he added.
