Andy Lassner, the executive producer for the Ellen DeGeneres Show has set the record straight on Twitter after a follower implied that the show will be cancelled. The rumors come after the TV host was faced with an investigation for having a toxic work environment by her former employees.
“Me: I really think 2020 is gonna turn around and start getting better,” Lassner wrote on a post on Thursday. “2020: Lol, I’m gonna make your bed the epicenter.”
In response, a follower decided to reply to Lassner, saying, “I seriously wish you well. If the Ellen show goes off the air due to all these allegations (I, personally, have stopped watching) I hope you are able to find employment quickly. Your twitter account always made me laugh,”
Upon reading this, Lassner wrote back, “Nobody is going off the air.”
These allegations came to light after Buzzfeed News published the story on July 16; Warner Bros. then decided to launch an internal investigation. While no fingers have been pointed at Ellen herself, the individuals that have testified have explained that the executive producers “make the culture and are putting out this feeling of bullying and being mean.”
A few days ago, Ellen broke her silence and issued an apology to her viewers saying, “As we’ve grown exponentially, I’ve not been able to stay on top of everything and relied on others to do their jobs as they knew I’d want them done. Clearly some didn’t. That will now change and I’m committed to ensuring this does not happen again.”
