John Legend and Kanye West don’t talk anymore like they used to.
Speaking during an interview with The Times, Legend addressed the elephant in the room, saying that both him and West are “in different places,” carefully denying that this rift was because of West’s support for Donald Trump. Legend has however, criticised West in the past for his affiliation with the president.
“I don’t think we’re less friends because of the Trump thing. I just think we’re doing our own thing,” John explained. “He’s up in Wyoming. I’m here in LA. We’ve both got growing families and I no longer have a formal business relationship with him as an artist, so I think it’s just part of the natural cycle of life,” he said.
“But what I’ve always said is, we never talked about politics before. It was never a part of our interaction. Our interaction was almost always about creativity and music.”
Legend also pointed out both him and Kanye West are in different places, musically, focusing on completely contrasting genres. Even so, both their partners, Chrissy Teigen and Kim Kardashian still remain close friends.
