The world’s most beloved talk-show host will undergo an investigation after several of her employees have come forward and claimed that the popular show has a toxic work environment. The allegations have been by employees who have closely worked with Ellen DeGeneres, which Warner Media will now proceed to look into.
During the investigation, both current and former employees will be interviewed about their experiences on set. While rumors about Ellen DeGeneres being a terrible boss have been circulating for a while, the controversy escalated after BuzzFeed republished a report that said that employees were fired for taking sick leave or personal leave. This story also contained several incidents of racial behavior.
“We are truly heartbroken and sorry to learn that even one person in our production family has had a negative experience. It’s not who we are and not who we strive to be, and not the mission Ellen has set for us,” the executive producers on the show said.
“For the record, the day to day responsibility of the Ellen show is completely on us. We take all of this very seriously and we realize, as many in the world are learning, that we need to do better, are committed to do better, and we will do better.”
Warner Bros. Television has currently declined to comment on the situation.
