Saudi man was arrested for taking his pet lion for a walk around Jeddah

Pets need exercise so it’s important that you take them for walks and give them the tools they need to stay healthy. However, the rules change slightly when your “pet” is a 190kg lion that you’ve purchased illegally.

Authorities in Saudi were alerted when a man was spotted taking his pet lion for a walk around Jeddah. The lion was spotted walking outside a public street, alongside cafes with customers seated inside. Police arrived to the scene where they came across the lion sitting in the man’s car.

The lion has been handed over to the authorities’ custody and is currently undergoing questioning. The possession and trading of wild animals is illegal in Saudi Arabia.

The Saudi Wildlife Authority has warned residents that these offences are punishable by law and has asked the public to report incidents.
